It should be applied only to the affected area of the skin as per the dosage and schedule prescribed by your doctor. The topical route delivers high local levels with negligible systemic absorption, so the disulfiram-like reaction and other systemic side effects of oral metronidazole are not expected.<\/p>\n Rosacea responds slowly \u2014 visible reduction in inflammatory lesions usually takes 3\u20136 weeks of consistent twice-daily application. Many patients continue maintenance application long-term to prevent recurrence.
