Product Overview
Lacoma-T is a medication containing the active ingredients Latanoprost and Timolol. It is an ophthalmic solution designed to treat elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. By combining two different classes of medications, Lacoma-T offers a dual mechanism of action to effectively lower IOP and reduce the risk of optic nerve damage and vision loss associated with these conditions. It is available as eye drops for easy administration.
Uses
Lacoma-T is primarily used to treat open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension, both of which are characterized by elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). By reducing IOP, Lacoma-T helps prevent damage to the optic nerve and preserve vision in affected patients. It is often prescribed when monotherapy with either Latanoprost or Timolol alone is insufficient in controlling IOP.
How to Use
To use Lacoma-T eye drops, wash your hands thoroughly and tilt your head back slightly. Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and instill one drop into the pocket. Blink gently to distribute the medication evenly. Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any other surface to prevent contamination. Repeat the process in the other eye if directed by your doctor. Use it exactly as prescribed, typically once daily in the evening.
How it Works
Lacoma-T combines the active ingredients Latanoprost and Timolol, which work through different mechanisms to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Latanoprost is a prostaglandin analog that increases the outflow of aqueous humor, the fluid that fills the front part of the eye, while Timolol is a beta-blocker that reduces the production of aqueous humor. Together, these medications help maintain IOP within the normal range and prevent optic nerve damage.
Dosage and Administration
The usual dosage of Lacoma-T is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily, preferably in the evening. If you are using other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between administering each medication to prevent dilution and minimize potential interactions. Do not discontinue it without consulting your doctor, even if your symptoms improve. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully for the best results.
