What Is Naturogest?

Naturogest is natural progesterone in micronized soft-gel capsules (100, 200, 300, or 400 mg). The micronization improves oral absorption of progesterone, which is otherwise poorly bioavailable. Naturogest is chemically identical to the progesterone produced by the corpus luteum, distinguishing it from synthetic progestins like medroxyprogesterone acetate (Meprate) or norethisterone. It binds the progesterone receptor and produces secretory transformation of an estrogen-primed endometrium — supporting implantation, maintaining early pregnancy, and opposing estrogen in HRT.

How to Take Naturogest

1. Oral: swallow whole at bedtime with water. Bedtime dosing is important — the first-pass metabolite allopregnanolone is sedating, so daytime dosing causes drowsiness.
2. Vaginal: insert deep into the vagina before bedtime. Some staining is normal; a panty-liner is helpful for the first night or two.
3. For IVF, follow your clinic protocol exactly; route and dose are protocol-specific.
4. For HRT, take alongside your estrogen component (oral / gel / patch).

Naturogest vs Synthetic Progestins

The WHI 2002 findings of increased breast cancer and cardiovascular events in combined HRT used medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), not bioidentical progesterone. The E3N cohort (n = 80,000) i KEEPS data suggest micronized progesterone carries a cleaner breast-cancer and metabolic signal. Naturogest is also non-androgenic — useful in women with acne or hirsutism. The trade-off is some sedation (often desirable in HRT) and modestly higher cost.

Interakcje lekowe

Yes — all three are bioidentical natural micronized progesterone, just from different WHO-GMP-certified manufacturers. The molecule and dose are identical. Switch between them safely if one is unavailable.

Why do I need to take Naturogest at bedtime?

Oral progesterone is metabolised in the liver to allopregnanolone, a positive GABA-A modulator that causes sedation and drowsiness. Bedtime dosing turns the sedating peak into improved sleep instead of daytime fatigue.

Oral vs vaginal — which is better?

Vaginal delivery achieves higher endometrial concentration (the “uterine first-pass effect”) at lower doses, which is why most IVF protocols use it. Oral is more convenient and is preferred for HRT progestin opposition because of the sleep benefit.

Can I open the capsule and use it vaginally?

Bioidentical progesterone does not have the androgenic profile of MPA, so weight gain is uncommon. Mild fluid retention can occur.
