Clinical Use

- Female-pattern hair loss (FPHL): 2% twice daily or 5% once daily is the FDA-approved female regimen.
- Alopecia areata: used off-label as adjunct to steroid injections, though response is variable.
- Post-chemotherapy hair regrowth: may accelerate return of hair after treatment completes.
How to Apply Tugain Foam
- Make sure your scalp and hair are dry. Damp scalp reduces penetration.
- Dispense a half-capful of foam, massage into the dry scalp affected area, then let dry without rinsing. Foam dries in 1–2 minutes without leaving the greasy feel of a liquid solution — often preferred for daytime use.
- Wash hands after application so the drug does not transfer to face, pillow, or other surfaces.
- Apply twice daily — morning and evening, roughly 12 hours apart — to dry scalp for best absorption.
- Do not wash, style, or apply other products for at least 4 hours efter applicering.
- Expect temporary shedding in weeks 2–8 as dormant follicles synchronise into anagen — this is a positive sign, not a failure.

- Do not stop. Benefits reverse within 3–4 months of discontinuation.
Realistic Expectations

2% vs 5% vs 10% Strength
Efficacy does not scale linearly with concentration. Common (local): scalp itching, flaking, redness, dryness. The propylene-glycol vehicle in solution/lotion drives much of this; foam tolerates better.
