Roxid Tablet is an antibiotic used to treat various types of bacterial infections. It is effective in resolving most infections of the respiratory tract, ear, nose, throat, lungs, and skin. It stops the growth of infection-causing bacteria and thus resolves the symptoms.
Roxid Tablet should be taken by mouth on an empty stomach. It should be used regularly at evenly spaced time intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.

What infections does Roxid treat?
Roxid (roxithromycin) is a macrolide antibiotic used for community-acquired pneumonia, atypical respiratory infections (Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Legionella), pertussis (whooping cough), Streptococcal pharyngitis in penicillin-allergic patients, skin and soft tissue infections, acne, and selected genitourinary infections including non-gonococcal urethritis. It is also a key option in roxithromycin-containing Helicobacter pylori eradication regimens.
How long do I need to take Roxid?
Typical courses run 5–14 days depending on the infection. Take it consistently spaced (every 8 or 12 hours depending on the regimen). Macrolides have a long post-antibiotic effect — even after the last dose, tissue levels remain therapeutic for several days.
What are the most common side effects?
Macrolides are well known for GI effects — nausea, abdominal cramping, and diarrhoea — because they directly stimulate gut motilin receptors. roxithromycin also has a class warning for QT-interval prolongation; avoid combination with other QT-prolonging drugs (citalopram, certain antipsychotics, quinolones, methadone) and discuss with your clinician if you have known long-QT, electrolyte disturbance, or significant cardiac disease.
Does Roxid interact with other medicines?
Macrolides (especially erythromycin and clarithromycin) are strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, raising blood levels of statins (simvastatin and lovastatin should be paused), warfarin, certain calcium-channel blockers, ergot alkaloids (avoid completely), pimozide (avoid), and several immunosuppressants. Can I take Roxid during pregnancy?
