What Is Revolizer Device?
Revolizer Device is a dry-powder inhalation device. It pierces and aerosolises dry-powder medication capsules so the powder can be inhaled. The device is reusable for many uses; the capsules (rotacaps) are single-use.
How to Use Revolizer Device
- Open the dust cap of the device.
- Place one rotacap into the chamber (coloured end down).
- Twist the base of the device sharply — listen for the click that pierces the capsule.
- Breathe out fully away from the device.
- Place mouthpiece between teeth, seal lips around it.
- Inhale forcefully and deeply — you should hear the rotacap whir.
- Hold breath 10 seconds, then breathe out slowly.
- Open the device, check the capsule is empty; discard.

Cleaning and Care
- Wipe the mouthpiece with a dry, clean tissue weekly.
- Do not wash with water — moisture damages the device and clumps any residual powder.
- Store with the dust cap closed when not in use.

Cipla rotacaps including Asthalin, Levolin, Budecort, Beclate, Foracort, Seroflo, Hiflo, Maxiflo, Aerocort, Tiova, Duova, Triohale, Serobid, and Duolin Rotacaps. Always check the medication leaflet for the recommended device.
Can I use Revolizer Device with a spacer?
No — spacers are only for pressurised metered-dose inhalers (HFA pMDIs). Dry-powder devices require fast forceful inhalation.
Why is the inhalation different from a pressurised inhaler?
Pressurised inhalers (Asthalin Inhaler, Foracort Inhaler) need a slow deep breath. Dry-powder devices need a fast forceful inhalation to disperse the powder. The technique is different — ask your pharmacist to check both.
How long does the device last?
A well-cared-for device lasts 6–12 months. Replace when visibly damaged, when the chamber loses snap-fit, or when you cannot generate good powder dispersion despite correct technique.
Is Revolizer Device suitable for children?
From age 6 with confirmed inspiratory flow (≥30 L/min, ideally 60). Below age 6, an MDI + spacer + mask is preferred.
Why not just use a pressurised inhaler?
Some patients have better symptom control with DPI (no propellant, no coordination required, no cold-spray throat irritation). DPI cost per dose is sometimes lower.
Can I share my Revolizer Device?
No — the mouthpiece harbours bacteria and viruses. Each person should have their own device.
What if the rotacap does not vibrate?
Most likely your inhalation flow is too slow. Try a stronger faster breath; if you still cannot, your prescriber may need to switch you to a pressurised inhaler with spacer.
