Can I drink alcohol while taking Orni O?

No. The nitroimidazole component (ornidazole or metronidazole) can produce a disulfiram-like reaction with alcohol — flushing, nausea, vomiting, palpitations, and headache. Avoid all alcohol during the course AND for 48 hours after the last dose, including mouthwash and cough syrup.

Should I separate Orni O from antacids and supplements?

Yes. The fluoroquinolone fraction binds aluminium/magnesium antacids, sucralfate, iron, zinc, calcium, and dairy. Take Orni O at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after any of these.

Is Orni O safe in pregnancy?

Orni O is generally avoided in pregnancy. The fluoroquinolone fraction has a theoretical arthropathy signal in the foetus, and metronidazole is avoided in the first trimester. Specialist supervision required for any pregnancy use.
