Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia and, while no current medication can stop the underlying neurodegeneration, four classes of evidence-based therapy can stabilise cognitive function for typically 6–18 months at each disease stage. The right choice depends on whether the disease is mild, moderate of ernstige, and whether the patient also has Parkinson's disease dementia.

MedsBase stocks all four mainstream Alzheimer's medications. Donepezil — the most-prescribed AChE inhibitor worldwide and the only one licensed across mild, moderate en severe disease — is available as Aricep (5 mg + 10 mg), Donect (10 mg) and Donemax (10 mg). Memantine, the NMDA antagonist used for moderate-to-severe disease and standard add-on to donepezil, is stocked as Admenta (5 mg, titrated over 4 weeks to 20 mg/day maintenance). Galantamine — a dual-mechanism AChE inhibitor + nicotinic receptor modulator for mild-to-moderate disease — is stocked as Galamer (4 mg). Rivastigmine, the only cholinesterase inhibitor with an on-label indication for Parkinson's disease dementia, is stocked as Rivamer (1.5 mg).

This page lists prescription-only medications that should be initiated and monitored by a doctor. All four drugs require slow upward titration over 4–8 weeks, formal cognitive re-assessment at 6 months, and never abrupt discontinuation. Caregiver supervision of dosing is essential for safety. Please read the individual product page for full dosing, monitoring, and safety information before ordering.
