Is Oflotas safe to take?

Oflotas is a fluoroquinolone — the FDA carries a black-box warning covering tendinopathy and tendon rupture (most often the Achilles, especially over age 60 or on corticosteroids), peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system effects, and aortic aneurysm/dissection. Reserve fluoroquinolones for documented bacterial infection where alternatives are unsuitable. Stop Oflotas and contact a clinician at the first sign of tendon pain, tingling, or unusual mood change.

Should I separate Oflotas from antacids and supplements?

Yes. Aluminium/magnesium antacids, sucralfate, iron, zinc, calcium, and dairy products bind ofloxacin/moxifloxacin and reduce absorption substantially. Take Oflotas at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after any of these.

Can I take Oflotas with tizanidine?

No — fluoroquinolones (especially ciprofloxacin) inhibit CYP1A2 and can raise tizanidine levels enough to cause severe hypotension and sedation. The combination is an absolute contraindication.

Does Oflotas prolong the QT interval?

Yes, all fluoroquinolones have a small QT-prolongation signal. Caution applies if you take other QT-prolonging drugs (amiodarone, sotalol, methadone, ondansetron, certain antipsychotics) or have known long-QT, hypokalaemia, or hypomagnesaemia.

Can I take Oflotas in pregnancy?
